Testing the Extended Tao–Eldrup Model. Silica Gels Produced with Polymer Template
The temperature dependence of o-Ps lifetime in the pores calculated from extended Tao–Eldrup model was compared to the experimental data, collected for a set of silica gels synthesized using the polymer template technique. For the sample with average pore radii 2.0 nm rather good agreement between the model and experiment was found. For the sample with narrow pores (near 1.0 nm) the lifetime sp...
متن کاملSilica reinforced triblock copolymer gels
The effect of silica and polymer coated silica particles as reinforcing agents on the structural and mechanical properties of polystyrene–poly(ethylene/butylene)–polystyrene (PS–PEB–PS) triblock gel has been investigated. Different types of chemically modified silica have been compared in order to evaluate the influence of the compatibility between gel and filler. Time-resolved SANS and small-a...
متن کاملElastic critical behaviour in a 3d model for polymer gels
The elastic response in polymeric gels is studied by means of a percolation dynamic model. By numerical simulations the fluctuations in the gyration radius and in the center of mass motion of the percolating cluster are determined. Their scaling behaviour at the gelation threshold gives a critical exponent for the elastic modulus f ∼ 2.5± 0.1 in agreement with the prediction f = dν. PACS: 05.20...
متن کاملSelf-Oscillating Structural Polymer Gels
Self-oscillating polymer gel has become a distinguished class of smart soft materials. Here we fabricated and demonstrated a self-oscillating structural gel network with the incorporation of the Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. The structural polymer gel oscillates at a macroscopic level with remarkably faster kinetics compared to a normal gel of similar chemical compositions. The structural...
متن کاملNovel Processing of Silica Hydrosols and Gels
The extensive research activity on sol-gel processing of silica glass has been reviewed by several authors [l-4]. The typical alkoxide route to silica sols comprises the catalyzed reaction of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) and water in a mutual solvent. The TEOS alkoxy groups hydrolyze to form silanol monomers which condense and crosslink to form the silica gel network. The nature of the sol and the ...
